So, because of a recent poll done by:

After looking around the internet for models, makeup artists and ideas. Lately, I have seen most models/ photographers that have there work so photoshopped that the original image is more like a mock up of what they want it to be. It really is sad, seeing as back in the day with film even as little as 10 years ago you showed your portfolio in slide film with no modification. If you showed up with manipulated images/ negs was not how things were done.
Here are some things that I see and have somewhat of an opinion on.
1. Photographers turning models into plastic/ too smooth skinned people. This one is one that is more towards glamor and fashion photographers. I personally think that when they being to look plastic, or if you smooth the skin too much the people begin to appear fake. They lack the imperfections that make a person a person.
2. Use of photoshop to add/ apply makeup. Talking a friend of mine that has been a professional glamor and fashion photographer for the past 20 years he remembers back in the day when you hired a make up artist to do the work that people are beginning to do in photoshop. I agree with him that if you actually put high quality make up on a model, they become more confident in the things they do. It helps because people working on the set will tell them they look good. Same applies for anyone, if you feel you look good you do better when things are directed towards you.
3. HDR on portraits- Why would you do such a thing? HDR can be used for good, but not on a person.
Okay, now that this list is started, I will be updating it occasionally for the 5 people that will read it.
